Naomi’s lament (excerpt from WIP “Love and Hope”)

Naomi doesn’t know what to do. Whenever she was happy or sad, lifted up or disappointed, joyful or angry, she turned to God for comfort. But where can she turn when it is God who has disappointed her?
“What is left for me? Everything is gone.” Naomi lays her head in her hands as the tears continue to fall, like they do every single day. She is so tired of feeling sad. She examines her feelings to try to move past them and get over the tears that well up each time she thinks about what happened. It is more than sadness and loss. It is disappointment. Disappointment that the plans she had for the future would never happen now, could never happen now. And then she realizes they could never happen because God had not saved and healed her husband or her sons. How could He let them die?
