Blessings and Thanksgiving #1
I hope you enjoyed the Summer of No Fear – 13 Bible verses on living through the fear because of God’s love and strength. Today we begin a weekly study of Blessings and Thanksgiving in the Bible and inspired by the Bible. We start with something written out of one man’s love for God and his praise for all that God has given us. We start with the Doxology. Most often this is sung, but it’s also a beautiful poem:
Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above ye heavenly hosts;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
The Doxology was written by Thomas Ken in 1674, and it remains as a beautiful praise song to this day. Most churches have this hymn somewhere in their tradition. The tune may differ, but the praise and the words are the same. It is a shared experience across most Christian churches.
Praise Him – he gives us everything good. Praise him – everyone who lives on earth. Praise Him – everyone in heaven. Praise the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. We have nothing good without the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Thank you Jesus.
