Summer of “Fear Not” 2020 #8
Fear Not #8 – Psalm 27:1 – The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?
One bible translation in the Blue Letter Bible (interlinear) for Psalm 27:1 says “The Lord is the defense of my life.” I like that. Especially with football season in the air. I think about the defense pushing back on anyone or anything that tries to invade or intrude on my home or my person. And the Psalmist says that God is the defender. He runs defense for us. He is also our light and our salvation – our deliverer, our rescuer, our safety. With God as our light in the darkness, our deliverer, our rescuer, our safety, our defense, the psalmist then asks, “of whom shall I (we) be afraid?” What is there to fear when you have the Lord almighty, the creator of all things as your defensive line? Nothing. What a comfort that is. Thank you Jesus.
